White Sauce
- Butter, 1 tablespoon
- Flour, 1 tablespoon
- Milk, 1/2 cup
- Salt and Pepper
Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat, then add the flour gradually with a whisk. Once blended, work in the milk slowly. Cook for 3-5 minutes, then season and pepper to taste.
Also known as Cream Sauce, this is the basis for a number of variations of sauces, not to mention many soups as well. As idiot-proof this is, you should make plenty of it.
